PIE chairman asks for political unity, dialogue

 LAHORE: Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE) Chairman S M Tanveer on Tuesday urged the heads of political parties to resolve their differences through dialogue instead of protests, as the country cannot afford any disturbance, a statement said.
 He said that Pakistan Army is fighting against militants in North Waziristan and a political party is going to hold a demonstration in the capital of the country on Independence Day. It will create unrest and would badly hit business and trade activities.
 He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has achieved many milestones during the last one year, including stability in exchange rate, successful bidding of Eurobonds in international market, improvement in foreign reserves, while striving hard to overcome the load shedding with an investment of $32 billion from the Chinese.

Fourth drug testing centre to begin soon

LAHORE: The fourth drug testing laboratory and research centre in the country will start functioning very soon as per a statement. The laboratory has been setup at Sundar industrial estate, costing Rs100 million, where 166 pharmaceutical units have been sanctioned, most of which have started production.
 This was stated by Pakistan Drug Testing Laboratory Management Board President Rizwan Khalid Butt at a briefing held at Punjab industrial estates central office the other day.

A delegation led by the ambassador of Republic of Finland Mr. Rauli Suikkanen visited PIEDMC Head Office here yesterday. The General Manager Marketing and Administration, Ijaz Azeem welcomed the delegation and briefed about the present and upcoming projects of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company. While sharing future plans of development, the GM (Marketing and Administration) explained that special efforts are being made to bring under developed areas of Punjab at par with others. Mr. Rauli Suikkanen hailed the excellent services rendered by PIEDMC to attract local and foreign investors.

Yafu Qiu, the leader of Chinese Ruyi Group delegation currently visiting Pakistan, has expressed the optimism that Chinese Investors would make huge investment in the province of Punjab where the infrastructure is at par with international standards.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE), Yafu Qiu expressed these views after a briefing by officials of PIE. He lauded the efforts of the Punjab government aimed at facilitating the foreign investors in order to set up Chinese industrial units at Punjab Apparel Park, situated close to Motorway in Sheikhupura district.

Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) Chairman S.M. Tanvir said here Wednesday that the Company had entered into an agreement with Punjab government to retire a loan of Rs 1035 million given to it as seed money to kick start the company’s operations in 2004. He said that in 2003, Punjab government had established the Company with a model of Public-Private Partnership, dominated by private sector, to achieve orderly planned and rapid industrialization in the province.

The PIEDMC, he added, had actively participated in recent industrial developments and was successfully running four industrial estates and developing another five in different parts of Punjab.

PIEDMC CEO’s term extended

LAHORE: On the recommendation of the board of directors of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC), Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has extended the service contract of Maj Gen Javed Iqbal (Retd), chief executive officer (CEO) of PIEDMC, for another three years term, a statement said on Monday.

 PIEMDC Chairman SM Tanveer has welcomed the decision of the government of Punjab to renew the contract of its CEO.
 It will be beneficial for completion of the ongoing projects and other projects, which are going to be started soon, he said, adding that Multan Industrial Estate (Phase ll) was a sick project, which was restarted and completed by the CEO. As a result, he said, PIEDMC has become a self-sustaining and self-financing company and is returning seed money pending since 2003 to the government of Punjab.

Chinese company offers to set up power plants

altA Chinese Power Producing Company has offered to set up power plants in all the industrial estates owned and developed by Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIE) in order to fulfil industry energy requirements during next two to three years.

Chief de mission Liu Minghua (Director Business Development, Power China) in a meeting with the PIE officials said his group was equipped with latest technology would also provide all their expertise besides funding for the project. The delegation comprised Liu Minghua, Liu Junnan, Zheng Mingwin, Jiang Ning and S Khan.
The group would soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Government of Punjab which would pave the way to establish captive power plants in the industrial estates, he said.

LAHORE: Industrialists are hopeful that business activities in the Sundar Industrial Estate will get a boost after reconstruction of a link road between Multan Road and estate.
The chairman of the Punjab Industrial Estates Development Company, S M Tanveer, told the media that the chief minister of Punjab announced his government’s decision on construction of the link road at a meeting with a group of industrialists of the Sundar Industrial Estate.

PIEDMC to establish Garment City

Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) will develop a 'garment city' in order to revitalise the garment industry in Punjab province. PIEDMC Chairman S M Tanveer revealed this in a meeting with the industrialists belonging to garment sector.

While giving details about the proposed industrial estates, he said, this would be established in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister who wanted to make the province an industrial hub of the country. The garment city will be established at about 400 to 500 acres of land in close proximity of Lahore. This proposed industrial estate would provide modern infrastructure, he added.

LAHORE, Aug 16: The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has chalked out a plan to establish a mega city on 20,000 acres in the province.
This mega city project that will be established with the cooperation of leading Chinese companies includes an industrial estate, housing colonies and other related facilities.
This was stated by PIEDMC Chairman SM Tanveer while presiding over a meeting held here, says a press release issued here on Friday.
He said as a first step, an industrial estate over 10,000 acres would be developed at Pind Dadan Khan, Chakwal. This would be the biggest-ever industrial estate in the country and Chinese investment would come in a big way for it.

PIEDMC seeks SEZ status

LAHORE: Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has started to take efforts to get the status of special economic zone for all its industrial estates in order to expedite industrialisation, PIEDMC Chairman S M Tanveer said while talking to the media. He said under the SEZ Bill 2012, developers and entrepreneurs will get one-time exemption from customs duties and taxes for all capital goods imported into Pakistan for the development of SEZs. A ten-year tax holiday, both for SEZ developers and enterprises, is also allowed under the law, he added.

Chairman PIEDMC, S M Tanveer in a statement on Monday said that under the dynamic leadership of Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Industrial Estates emerged as one of the best Public Private Limited Company not only in Punjab province but in the country as it has increased its assets to Rs 15 billion, which was running in deficit before he took over its charge.
